Pizza with the Principal - Since February is a hectic month what with days off and swimming lessons, Pizza with the Principal will not be held until Wednesday, March 1st. This is the first day that the kindergarten students will be at school when no one is leaving early for swimming lesson. So sorry for the long wait!

 The monthly prize for the whole school is a Dance Party.  We will be having our dance party on Tuesday, February 7th during the last period of the day.

The Toothpaste Challenge ~

On Monday, January 30th I took all of the students to the gym for the last period of the day to do the Toothpaste Challenge.  Students were placed in small cross-grade groups and then the group was given the challenge to squeeze out all of the toothpaste on to a plate and then work to get all of the toothpaste back into the tube using only toothpicks.  Of course there was no group that could complete the task.  

The purpose of this task was to symbolize the damage done to others when using mean words towards them.  Mean words often come out easily like the toothpaste but then no matter how hard you work or how sorry you feel, you can never completely repair the hurt, just like the student could not get the toothpaste tubes back to the original state.  

A Very Short Week ~

We have a very quiet three days this week. 

 

Family Movie Night ~

The New Humble Centre Parent's Group is hosting the Family Movie Night on Wednesday, February 8th.  The feature film is 'Stork'.  Doors open at 6:00 and the movie starts at 6:30.  Please remember that movie etiquette applies.

No School - Teacher's Convention ~

There is no school on Thursday, February 9th and Friday, February 10th for students.  Teachers will be at Teacher's Convention on those days.
