Dress Alike Day ~

Education Week ~ 

The theme for this year's Education Week is 'Learning is a Journey".  We have a week packed with a variety of events and activities, as well as, wonderful lunches provided by the PTA.  Thank you PTA and all parent volunteers that help out with these lunches.  

Monday, May 1st
     * Painting - Mrs. Hutchings' mom, Mrs. Ekstrom, will be at the                 school to paint with the Gr.1/2 and 5/6 class.

Tuesday, May 2nd
     * Whole School Field Trip to the Edmonton Valley Zoo. 

Wednesday, May 3rd
     * Painting - Mrs. Hutchings' mom, Mrs. Ekstrom, will be at the                  school to paint with the ECS and Gr. 3/4 class.
     * Hats On For Mental Health - wear your hat to school.
     * Passion Projects - the students will be presenting their                       projects in the gym from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
     * Assembly - the monthly assembly will take place @ 2:00 pm.
     * Early Dismissal - Students will be dismissed at 2:30 pm.

Thursday, May 4th ~
     * Appreciation Tea - The Appreciation Tea will be held 
       from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.  Please let the school know how 
       many from your family will be attending.  

Friday, May 5th ~
     * Zumba - Mrs. Micku will be running Zumba classes will 
       each of the classes in the morning.
     * Connectivity - Connectivity will be doing skipping 
       demonstrations and skipping lessons with each of the 
       classes in the afternoon.


Assembly ~  

The May assembly will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm.  If your child is being recognized at the assembly their teacher will let you know.

Everyone is welcome to attend the assembly.

Kindy Grad /Spring Pictures ~ 

Lifetouch will be at the school on Thursday, May 11th to do Kindergarten Graduation and Spring Photos.  Information regarding the pictures will be sent home soon.

Gr. 6 PAT ~ 

The Gr. 6 students will be writing their first Provincial Achievement Test on Thursday, May 11th @ 9:00 am.  This exam will be the Language Arts Writing exam.  

Author Visit ~ 

Canadian author  and journalist, Joyce Grant will be at the school on Friday, May 12 at 10:35 - 11:15.  She is the author of three "Gabby" picture books as well as a middle grade novel, "Tagged Out."  To find out more about Joyce Grant you can visit her website at http://joycegrantauthor.com/.

Order forms to purchase her books will come home with your child after the author visit.  

Everyone is welcome to come to school to hear the presentation.  It would be wonderful if some of our kindergarten children could make it back.

Staff Planning & Professional Development Day ~ 

There is no school on Friday, May 19th as this is a Staff Planning and Development Day.  

Victoria Day ~ 

There is no school on Monday, May 22nd as this is a statutory holiday.  Enjoy your long weekend.

Western Day~

Our theme day for this month is Western Day.  On Thursday, May 25th students are encouraged to dress in their western attire!

District High Jump~

Mrs. Hutchings will once again be taking a group of students to New Sarepta for the District High Jump Competition on Monday, May 29th.  Permission notes will be coming home with your child if they will be participating.

I hope that everyone has a very Happy Easter and that the Easter Bunny is good to you.  Personally I would just like to see Mother Nature be good to us!

Monday, April 17th ~

There will be no school on Monday, April 17th as it is Mid-Term Break and Easter Monday

Tuesday, April 18th ~ 

There will be no school on Tuesday, April 18th as it is Staff Planning and Development Day.  

We will see everyone back on Wednesday, April 19th.  Enjoy the extra long weekend!

Gr. 5/6 Boys' Floor Hockey Tournament ~

The Black Gold Gr. 5/6 Boys' Floor Hockey Tournament will be on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd.   We have boys from Gr. 4 - 6 competing in the tournament. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, April 21st @ 5:45 - 6:05 against Riverview
Friday, April 21st @ 6:35 - 6:55 against New Sarepta
Saturday, April 22nd @ 9:25 - 9:45 against Caledonia
Saturday, April 22nd @ 10:15 - 10:35 against Dansereau

Further games will depend upon our standings.  Only the first two teams in each pool will advance.  All of our games will be played at Ecole Corinthia Park School.

Please come out and cheer the boys on.

Library Award Winners

Congratulations to Grady F in kindergarten and Rhylinn F in Gr. 3 for winning the library awards.  Both students received a book bag and a coupon to be used on a Scholastic Book order.
