I would like to take a few moments to address the subject of field trips and alternate activities. All field trips or alternate activities are planned with intent and purpose so as to meet curricular outcomes. When we submit our request for a field trip to our District Office, we must include the tie to the curriculum. Therefore, when we go skiing, swimming or skating for phys. ed, we are covering a part of the curriculum; General Outcome A, Application of Basic Skills in an Alternative Environment. The participation in these activities is reflected in the students' phys. ed mark. It is expected that all students will participate in these activities unless there are extenuating circumstances. It is no different than expecting a student to complete a language arts or math activity.
I do recognize that some of these activities push some students out of their comfort zone but sometimes being pushed out of their comfort zone is healthy academically, physically, and emotionally. We would never ask students to do something that would put them at harm. The activities can all be modified so that every student can be successful at their level.

Free LRC Passes ~
Last week I sent out an email to parents explaining how you are able to borrow LRC passes from the school library for free. That being said, there is a bit of a catch if they are returned late or lost. Please read the following information sent to us regarding late or lost passes.Loan periods are set for 7 days only and a family may renew the pass once unless there are other requests for it. Users are given a 1 day grace period for late returns but, are charged $1.00 a day if late. Once the pass is 3 days late it is automatically marked lost and the user is charged $20.00, which will need to be added to their RYCOR account.
