Weekly Update June 20 - 24

I know that it is cliche, but I really can not believe how fast this year has gone and that we are starting our last full week of the school year. There is still so much to be done. I know that to parents it often seems that not much is happening towards the end of the year but for the teachers there is still so much to do - units to finish up, marking to be completed, report cards to be written, and all those fun activities to be planned.  In the office we are trying to tie up the loose ends of this year and prepare for the start of next year.  There is never a dull moment.

As for the students, they are all anticipating a much needed break.  I have enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting adventures that will be happening this summer - trips to Mount Rushmore, surfing on Vancouver Island, camping with friends and family, taking in some of the FCSS camps and many more.  I always look forwarding to hearing the exciting details of these trips when we return in the fall.

The staff would like to wish everyone a very safe summer filled with tons of fun and lots of time to recharge the batteries.  Enjoy!!!

Here are a few pictures of some of the activities that took place the last few weeks.

Track Meet Day~

In the morning students participated in traditional track meet activities like high jump, running and standing long jump, ball throw, and the 100 and 50 meter races.

In the afternoon family groupings participated in relay activities where they needed to work together as a team. Each group did a fabulous job!

Once again, thank you to everyone that attended our School Track Meet Day.  It was wonderful to see so many Grandparents!

Also, thanks again to the PTA for BBQing and serving the lunch for us.
A special Thank You to the Glubish Family for the ice cream treats.  That was very generous of you!

This Weeks Activities ~

Just a reminder of three important events happening this week.

Celebration of Learning ~

On Wednesday, June 22 @ 12:30 we will be having our Celebration of Learning.  Students will be recognized for their contributions made throughout the year.  If your child will be receiving an award, your child's teacher will be in touch with you.

Division Track Meet Presentations will also be made at this time.

Everyone is welcome to attend.  We hope to see you there.

Kindergarten Graduation ~

The kindergarten class will be celebrating their year of learning with a Kindergarten Graduation on Thursday, June 23 in the morning.  Mrs. Martinoff will provide further details to the kindergarten parents.

Grade Six Farewell ~

On Thursday, June 23rd at 6:00 we will be having our Gr. 6 Farewell.  The staff hosts this event as an opportunity to say thank you to these students for all the contributions they have made to New Humble Centre School and to wish them all the best in their future.

If you have a child in Gr. 6 and you have not already contacted the office with the number of people in attending with you, please do so as soon as possible.  Thank you!

A very special 'Thank You' also goes out to Grasshopper Cafe for donating the pizza to the Gr.5/6 year end party.  The students really enjoyed it!  This was very much appreciated!!!
