Weekly Update May 2 - 6

Welcome May!

This first week of May will be a busy one.  To celebrate education week we will have a variety of activities scheduled throughout the week.  The theme for the week is 'We Are Teachers'.  During the week we will have special guests teaching the students as well as the students teaching others.  Everyone is a teacher in some capacity.

Monday, May 2nd

Drum Fit ~

The students will be participating in a Drum Fit class.  Leanne Geiger, an Education Assistant from Willow Park School, will spend a half a day at our school leading the students in Drum fit.  I am sure there will be some tired students at the end of that class.

Wednesday, May 4th

'When I Grow Up I Want to Be ...' Presentations ~

The students will have an opportunity to share their 'When I grow up I want to be a ..." presentation with the greater school community.  Students will have an opportunity to share their presentations with the other students in the morning and then to parents and other guests in the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Assembly ~

Our monthly assembly will follow the student presentations at 2:00.  Everyone is welcome to join us for the assembly.

Hats On For Mental Health ~

It is also 'Hats On For Mental Health' day.  Everyone is encouraged to wear a hat to school that day to raise awareness of good mental health.

Thursday, May 5th

A.I.M.B.O.T Presentation ~

All students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their creative potential while collaborating with their peers to construct something out of Lego.  A.I.M.B.O.T, which stands for Alberta Institute of Mentors and Builders of Tomorrow, is a mentorship based society which helps the builders of today transition confidently and capably into the innovators of tomorrow.

Kindergarten Mother's Day Tea ~

In the afternoon the kindergarten students will be treating their mom's to tea and entertainment.

 Painting Classes ~

During the week, each class will have an opportunity to work with Mrs. Ekstrom, Mrs. Hutchings' mom, to create a piece of art.  The final projects will be displayed later this month when we hold our 'Art Walk".  Stay tuned for more details about that.

Lunches All Week ~

Thanks to our generous PTA and parent volunteers, the students and staff will have lunches provided for them for the entire week.  This is greatly appreciated!
