Weekly Update - December 7 - 11

Only Two More Weeks Until Christmas Vacation ~

Preparations for all things Christmas are well under way at New Humble Centre.  Students have been busy practicing songs and lines for our Christmas concert.  Classes have been working on decorations for the 'Decorated Door Contest'  Each class, as well as the custodian, librarian, and office, chose a name of a reindeer and then have to decorate their door accordingly.  Doors need to be finished by Dec. 14th.  You will have to check out the creativity of everyone and see if you can guess which reindeer their door represents.

Student of The Month ~

In November our character trait that we were focusing on was Perseverance. Congratulations to the following students who were chosen as Student of the Month winners for demonstrating perseverance:

Jenna Koch - ECS
Brett Besler - Gr. 1
Austin Frenzel-Neufeld - Gr. 2
Colby Besler - Gr. 3
Colby Andersen - Gr. 4
Garrett Armstrong - Gr. 4
Kole Rutherford - Gr. 5
Evan Frenzel-Neufeld - Gr. 6

In December we will be focusing on Self-Discipline.  This trait goes nicely with Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind and Habit 3 - Put First Things First.

Five Days of Christmas ~

Thank you to everyone for the items you donated for the Five Days of Christmas. The tables and boxes were overflowing from your generosity.

Annie, the Musical ~

On Thursday, Dec. 10th the whole school will be heading into the MacLab Centre in Leduc to watch the musical, Annie.  Teachers will be contacting the parents that are going along as supervisors.  Thanks to everyone who volunteered.

Gr. 3-6 Skiing ~

This first ski trip of the season will be on Friday, December 11.  Hopefully Rabbit Hill has been able to make enough snow.  Please make sure that your child dresses in layers so that if the weather remains warm they can remove wet clothes or shed layers as the day warms up.

Christmas Potluck Lunch ~

Keeping with a long time tradition that was established in 1981, we will be holding our Christmas Potluck Lunch on Friday, Dec. 18th followed by Bingo and classroom activities.  Mrs. Austin will be sending home a more detailed note next week.  Thanks again for your contribution to the lunch.  The students thoroughly enjoy it!
