Welcome to January!

Welcome to 2020 at NHCS!

- This week was filled with playing in the snow (and then being trapped indoors) and getting back into the groove of learning!
- For the upcoming snacks provided by the nutrition program, could you please send a spoon with your child to keep in their locker?  This will cut down on waste.
- Please make sure all students have warm mitts, socks, hats, snow pants and winter jackets, as we will be going outside for recesses here and there, even when it may be chilly! Do not count on it being an indoor recess.
- On Monday we will be able to skate on the rink, please bring your helmets and skates to enjoy the fun! Weather permitting!

Please check the Black Gold website for official information on whether buses are running, due to weather.

On January 22, New Humble Centre School will be celebrating 120 years since it's opening.  Watch the blog for events on this exciting day! 

Upcoming Events

Thursday, January 16 - 2pm - a Social Media Presentation will take place in the Library for all of our parents.  This presentation will be put on by our Wellness Team.  Come and learn some valuable information regarding our students and social media. 

**There was a child's sled left on the playground sometime over the Christmas break. We have put it on the picnic table. Please come and get it, if it is yours!

December 20, 2019

We have had a very excitement-filled week!  Two hot dog lunches provided by the Wellness team and the making of gingerbread houses!

We spent a good part of our week preparing for the Christmas concert that we shared with our community on Thursday!  Thank you all for coming!  

We also managed to squeeze in a bit of learning this week too!  

Our final day of 2019 was spent together enjoying food, fun and each other's company in our PJ's! Thank you to all the families for feeding all of us so well!  

Have a very Merry Christmas and a relaxing time with family and friends over the break!  See you all in January!  

December 9-13

Merry Winter!  I would like to remind all families that our students play outside four times everyday.  It is important that everyone has proper clothing for our Canadian winter weather - boots, snow pants, winter jacket, mitts and toque (& extra mittens and socks).  Even on really cold days, we may go outside for a short while. Please come prepared everyday!

Friday, Dec 13 - Skiing for Grades 3-6 - Come dressed for the weather!  Remember to bring your lunch or $ for lunch. 

Monday, Dec 16 - The Book Fair Begins and runs all week!!

          - Students will get one hot dog (byproduct free) and veggies.  Please send additional snacks and lunch if your child usually eats more.  In the afternoon we will be decorating gingerbread houses

Tuesday, Dec 17 - Dress Rehearsal

Thursday, Dec 19 - Christmas Concert!  - 1 pm and 7 pm - as well as Bake Sale and Book Fair!

Friday, Dec 20 - PJ Day and Potluck Lunch - afternoon games and fun!

December 2-5

This week started off with Drumfit in PE on Monday. It was a very fun afternoon!!

This week, at New Humble, we have had an excellent week!  We have enjoyed such great new equipment and resources purchased by our Parent's Group!   Pictures to come soon!

We also had a guest in our PE classes this week, Master Lim, from Central Taekwondo in Leduc, came and shared Taekwondo with us!

Also a huge thank you to all the  parent volunteers who came to the Metis Discovery Day last Friday!  It was a very full and busy place, we sure appreciated all of your help!
