December News

With the mild temperatures that we have been experiencing in the last few weeks, it is hard to believe that we are already into December.  It will not be long and the school will start to feel like Christmas.  Classes have already begun to practice for the Christmas concert.  The stage will be getting set up next week and decorations will soon be hung.

The Five Days of Christmas ~

Image result for Five Days of ChristmThe Five Days of Christmas will run from Monday, Nov.28th to Friday, Dec. 2nd.  All donations will be given to the local Christmas Elves.

Professional Development Day ~


There will be no school on Friday, December 2nd as this is a Professional Development Day for staff.

The girls' and boys' basketball teams will be traveling to Thorsby on Thursday, Dec. 1st and to Warburg on Tuesday, Dec. 6th. Good luck in all of your games!




Assembly ~ 

Our December Assembly will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7th at 8:30 am.  If your child is being recognized at the assembly you will be contacted by your child's teacher.

Everyone is welcome to attend the assembly.

Early Dismissal ~

Early Dismissal will be on Wednesday, Dec. 7th.  Students are dismissed at 2:30.

Mrs. Sekora will be holding the book fair on Wednesday, Dec.14th, Thursday, Dec. 15th, and Friday, Dec. 16th.  




Christmas Concert ~ 

This year our Christmas concert will be 'Santa's Holiday Hoedown'.  We will have an afternoon performance at 1:00 pm. and an evening performance at 7:00 pm.  Doors will open at 6:30 pm.  All students are asked to be in their classrooms by 6:45 at the latest.  Donations to the Food Bank will be accepted at the door.

Refreshments will be served after each performance.  A special visitor will be making a special appearance at the school that evening.  


Parking is available in the north field.

Everyone is welcome to attend!  We hope to see you there.

Gr. 3 - 6 Skiing ~

The Gr. 3 - 6 students will be going skiing to Rabbit Hill on Tuesday, Dec. 20th. Permission forms and more details will soon be coming home with your child.  




Christmas Sweater Day ~

  Thursday, December 22nd will be   our Christmas Sweater Spirit Day.   Everyone is encouraged to dress     up in their favorite Christmas         sweater or Christmas colours.




Christmas Potluck ~

In keeping with tradition, we will be having our School Christmas Potluck on the last Friday before the holidays. Mrs. Austin will be sending home the list of what each family is asked to send in.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation in sending in food for the potluck!

Christmas Vacation will be from Saturday, December 23rd, 2016 until Sunday, January 8th, 2017 inclusive.

Beach Day ~

Last Thursday, Nov. 24, the students braved the cooler temperatures to dress in their beach attire.  To compliment the tropical atmosphere, the PTA provided fruit smoothies to all of the students.

The Five Days of Christmas ~

The Five Days of Christmas began Monday, November 28th and ends on Friday, December 2nd.  Anything you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated.

Monday - Keep Us Fresh (personal hygiene items)
Tuesday - Keep Us Warm (blankets, toques, mittens, scarves, socks, etc)
Wednesday - Treat Us To Treat (candy, non-perishable treat food)
Thursday - Make Us Feel Special (jewelry, bubble bath, hair products, etc)
Friday - Fun Day (toys, books, etc)

Basketball Ball ~

Both our Girls' and Boys' teams will be taking on Thorsby on Thursday, Dec. 1st.  The games will be played at Thorsby Elementary School immediately after school.  

No School ~

Their will be no school on Friday, Dec. 2nd.  This is a Professional Development Day.  Staff will be working on professional development around their individual growth plan goals.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Weekly Update Nov. 21st - 25th



There are just  a few activities to highlight for this week.


Basketball Games~

Image result for basketballOur New Humble Centre girls' and boys' basketball teams have spent the last week practicing for their upcoming games.  The first game for both teams will be this Tuesday, November 22nd at East Elementary School.  The games take place right after school.  

If your child is on the team and you will be driving students other than your own children, please be sure to fill out the driver forms and drop off a copy of your insurance policy to the office.  Also, if your child is being driven by someone else, please be sure that you have signed the form giving your child permission to ride with someone else.  Thanks so much for your cooperation in this matter.


Picture Retakes ~

Picture retakes will take place on Tuesday, November 22.

Thursday, November 24th has been selected as Beach Day. Please help your child find some beach attire to wear to school that day.  Thank you!

Report Cards ~  

Report Cards will be going home on Friday, November 25th. If you have any questions about your child's report card, please feel free to contact your child's teacher and talk to them about your concerns.

Thank You, Thank You ~

We would just like to give a great big 'THANK YOU'  to all the parents that volunteer their time at the school doing jobs like hot lunch, popcorn and nachos, lice busters, classroom helpers,field trip supervisors, and on and on.

Also, a great big 'THANK YOU' to all the parents that help out behind the scenes doing jobs like organizing hot lunches, cutting out words for the spelling program, putting together candy bags for Halloween and Christmas, and on and on.

The students and staff appreciate all you do!!!

Week of November 14 - 18th



Remembrance Day Ceremony ~


Our Remembrance Day Ceremony was held on Wednesday, Nov. 8th.  Each class gave a short presentation on the theme of peace. Thank you to the teachers and students for your hard work in preparing for your presentation.

School Council/PTA Meeting ~

A reminder that the School Council/PTA meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 14th at 6:30 in the old computer room.  All parents are welcome and encouraged to come out to the meeting.  

Healthy Active School Symposium ~

Five of our students, along with Miss Richards, will be attending the Healthy Active School Symposium at the LRC in Leduc on Wednesday, Nov. 16th.  We are excited for them to come back and share their knowledge with us.  

Book Orders Due ~

November Book Orders are due on Thursday, Nov. 17th.
