October News

Wow, we have already finished the first month of the school year.  It has been an absolutely fabulous month.  We have already had many exciting activities and it is wonderful to see such great school spirit from the students, staff and parents.  Besides just having fun, there has been a great deal of learning happening.  Every time I go into a class the students are hard at work.  I enjoy asking them about what they are learning and listening to them explain their learning to me.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I would have to say that I am thankful to be able to work with such enthusiastic students, dedicated staff, and supportive parents. Thank you!

Fire Safety

Image result for fire safetyFire Prevention Week is Oct. 9-15.  Although fire prevention is important year-round, Fire Prevention Week is a great time to talk to your children about what you can do to make sure your family and home are fire safe.

The theme of this year's Fire Prevention Week is "Don't Wait- Check the Date! Replace smoke alarms every 10 years."

Bus Lane Safety

Did you know that when the buses are parked in the bus lane at the front of the school you could be ticketed for driving past them?  For the safety of the students, please do not drive past the buses when they are parked in front of the school.  Thank you.

Parking Lot Woes

As most of you are aware, our parking lot is very small.  In order to maximize the number of vehicles that can fit into the parking lot, when parking in the center section, please pull up as far as you can to the front of the yellow lines. Two vehicles should be able to fit in each of the marked off sections.

Hot Lunch Helpers Needed

The Hot Lunch Committee is looking for an individual or individuals that may be interested in shadowing Mrs. Messer.  This person would help with ordering the lunches and purchasing groceries that are needed for the lunches that are prepared at school.  If you are interested or willing to learn about this role, please call the office and leave your name.

Welcome Back

Image result for welcome back to school banner

I hope that everyone had a fabulous summer.  I know that I sure did.  My favorite place to spend a warm, summer day was on my front porch swing with a good book, and there were many days spent there and many books read.  That being said, I was starting to get a bit restless and eager to get back into a routine.  Some of you may be finding yourself in the same situation.  Hopefully it will not be too difficult for the students to get into that routine.  I am sure many of the students are eager to get back to school to see their friends (and teachers, of course).

Weekly Update June 20 - 24

I know that it is cliche, but I really can not believe how fast this year has gone and that we are starting our last full week of the school year. There is still so much to be done. I know that to parents it often seems that not much is happening towards the end of the year but for the teachers there is still so much to do - units to finish up, marking to be completed, report cards to be written, and all those fun activities to be planned.  In the office we are trying to tie up the loose ends of this year and prepare for the start of next year.  There is never a dull moment.

As for the students, they are all anticipating a much needed break.  I have enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting adventures that will be happening this summer - trips to Mount Rushmore, surfing on Vancouver Island, camping with friends and family, taking in some of the FCSS camps and many more.  I always look forwarding to hearing the exciting details of these trips when we return in the fall.

The staff would like to wish everyone a very safe summer filled with tons of fun and lots of time to recharge the batteries.  Enjoy!!!

Here are a few pictures of some of the activities that took place the last few weeks.
